The Month of Spooks 2018 Roundup

Hello there, ladies and gentlemen. We have entered November, which means that the fourth annual Month of Spooks has come to an end. It’s been a lot of fun, and we’ve gotten some great posts from my little spookers this year. So, now it is time to just sort of collect every Month of Spooks related post here.

Let’s start with my posts. This might seem vain, starting with my posts rather than the post of my little spookers, but I choose to see it as getting the least interesting posts out of the way first.
Hour of the Wolf Review
We Are Still Here Review
The Stakelander Review
The Devil’s Backbone Review
Constantine Review
Fortitude Season 1 Review
E.T. Review
Eden Lake Review
An American Werewolf in London Review
The Babadook Review
Castlevania Season 2 Review
Night of the Living Dead Review
Hellraiser Review
Halloween Review

And those were my posts. Now we move on to my little spookers and their sexy posts.

First up we have The Craggus on https://thecraggus.com, who is doing his third Month of Spooks in a row. Not sure if friend who appreciates themed blogging, or just foolish enough to follow my example. Either way, here are his posts:
The House with a Clock In It’s Walls Review
The Addams Family Review
Addams Family Values Review
The Witches of Eastwick Review
Goosebumps 2 Review
Double Date Review

Thank you, Craggus, for your loyalty to this silly thing of mine.

Next up we have Gavin, who is on http://minimediarvwr.com, who is doing his sophomore run on the Month of Spooks. So, let’s see what good ol’ Gav has cooked up for us.
The Innocents Review
The Innkeepers Review
Session 9 Review
Hell House LLC Review
Devil’s Pass Review
Our House Review
Halloween (2018) Review
The New French Extreme
Top 5 Things Ruined By Horror Films
The Haunting of Hill House Review

Thank you, Gavin. Your contributions to the cause are appreciated.

And the final one we have, making her Month of Spooks debut is Maddy, who you can find on https://fivethreeninety.wordpress.com. Always fun to get a fresh face in the Month of Spooks. So what did Maddy bring to the table?

The Scariest Non-Horror Films

Thank you for your contribution, Maddy. It was great to have had you on board!

And that’s about it. I only got three little spookers this year, but I don’t mind. They were all great, and it’s about quality over quantity, yo. To my little spookers I once again say THANK YOU, I LOVE YOU FOR DOING THIS. And to everyone that has followed along and read, THANK YOU, I APPRECIATE YOU READING MY STUFF.
Have a good one.

Announcing The Month of Spooks 2018!!!

What is up, ladies and gentlemen? It is once again time that time of year when I get to announce one of my favorite things to do within the blogosphere. I am super excited to announce that for the fourth year in a row, I am hosting what I refer to as The Month of Spooks! For those who are relatively new to my blog, every year since 2015 I spend the month of October reviewing a ton of horror things, usually with some people tagging along on their own blogs. Like I said, it’s been a yearly tradition for me to do this, and I do not intend on skipping out on it this year. So what’s gonna happen exactly?

Well to be honest, I have no fucking clue. I have some general ideas of horror-related things I might wanna review, but nothing is set in stone right now. But I know we’ll find some cool stuff to cover. And I will hopefully get some badass bloggers with me this year as well.

The Month of Spooks 2018, are you guys excited? Because I sure as hell am!
Have a good one.

4 Years of This Silly Blog!

Hello there, ladies, gentlemen, and space aliens. As you may have gathered from the title of this post and the text in the image, this blog is now four years old. That’s right, on January 27th 2014 I registered this blog and published my first post (which is kind of shit). To be honest with you guys, I honestly never thought I’d last this long as a blogger. Not because I thought competition would kick my ass out, but because I was very anti-blog for quite a while. But then I made an attempt at starting a blog for the hell of it. Then over time I learned to have fun with it. Sure, there were times where I just weren’t feeling it, and considered quitting it all. But I powered through, and these days I never feel that “ugh” feeling when it comes to blogging. Sure, there are times where I don’t really wanna post, either due to laziness or a headache or something like that, but I never feel like I want to quit.

And while we’re at it, I should also announce that I finally reached 300 followers on here earlier this month! I did consider making a post about that when it happened, but I thought about it and came to the conclusion that it would be better to wait and then include that announcement in this post. So yeah… a huge THANK YOU to every- hold on, that’s not right. Gimme a second…

THANK YOU ALL!!!

But seriously, thank you so much to everyone that has decided to follow this silly blog of mine, you have no idea how much it means. And an extra thank you to the ones who regularly interact with me on here, whether it is through a simple like or a thoughtful/lovely/entertaining comment, any kind of interaction helps in keeping this blog alive. And a lot of the interactions I’ve had have led to me making a bunch of new friends that I still interact with, either on here or on twitter/instagram. Meeting people like that to discuss all kinds of stuff with has really helped fuel my passion for this and it’s what keeps me going… at least in terms of the blogging and such. In real life the coffee is what keeps me going… but you guys do help me out in a way.

I guess since we’re having this double-celebration (with cream and sugar), I should do something special (other than this post). Not sure what that’d be, but we should make something in honor of this thing. So maybe leave some feedback on what you’d like to see from me in the future. More reviews? More lists? More music posts? More other things? Seriously, tell me what you’d like to see from me in the future, whether it’d be more, less, or same of various thing. Any and all feedback is welcomed. I’m all ears.

So yeah… that’s about it. Once again, huge thanks to everyone that has followed me on here… all 300 of you. And who knows, by the 8-year mark we might’ve reached 600, who the fuck knows? Either way, thank you very much… I appreciate it!
Have a good one.

Officially Announcing The Month of Spooks 2016!

month-of-spooks

Hello there, ladies and gents, boys and girls, other descriptive words and phrases… how are y’all doing? I hope you are all ready for this little post right here! If you aren’t, take a deep breath and say to yourself “I am ready for this shit” a few times. All good? Okay, here we go!

So as you can tell, I am officially announcing the Month of Spooks! But then I hear someone saying “BUT MARKUUUUUS, you announced this in your 200 followers post!”. And yes you’re right, person who I may or may not have made up. I did more or less announce it in my “200 followers” post (#ShamelessPlug). But I did also say in the very same post that I would be making a special post where I talked a little more about this stuff. So I thought that now was a good a time as any. For those who might not be 100% aware of this thing, let me fill in your blanks. The Month of Spooks is a concept I loosely came up with last year since it was October and I dedicated it to reviewing horror movies. And back then I really half-assed it, since I started in the middle of the month and never really made it all officially official. So now I have decided to make it slightly more officially official by announcing it ahead of the month itself and adding a twist to it… I’m not the only person who’s gonna write under the Month of Spooks title/banner. That’s right, I want some guest bloggers to join in for this dumb thing. Not like a full-on blogathon with hundreds of people… but I’d at least like to have some people joining in to write something for this. And to tell the truth, I already have one person ready for it. And that certain someone is Zoë from The Sporadic Chronicles of a Beginner Blogger (Sidenote: If you aren’t following her already, go do it. She makes some pretty awesome stuff). I don’t know what she’s gonna make, but I’m sure it’ll be great. And that’s when I hear someone saying “BUT MAAAARKUUUUUS, how do I join in on this stupid thing?”. Here’s how:
1. Go to twitter,com/TheMarckoguy.
2. Send me a tweet that says something like “Hey, I want to join the Month of Spooks”.
3. I’ll then DM you to start a chain of messages between us.
4. We have a conversation about the Month of Spooks.
5. You make a post at some point in October.
6. The Month of Spooks ends.

Sounds simple enough, right? “BUT MAAAARKUUUUUUS, what do I do if I don’t have twitter?” that possibly imagined person says. Well, you’re shit out of luck. Just kidding, sort of. We might be able to figure something out in the comments of this post. But still, how many bloggers don’t have twitter… almost feels like a necessity. That banner up there is also not like any final design that I want you to use. I just made it to have something to put at the top of this post. I can however say that there are a few hints to what posts I might do in there… you figure out which thing is what. Again, that’s just a slapped together banner for this post (with those hints in it that I mentioned).

So yeah… that’s my announcement. I hope to get some cool bloggers involved in this stuff. Hopefully I’ll be able to get a podcast or two on board for this too. Like I said, hit me up on twitter and we’ll make some spooks! BOO!
Have a good one!
