Announcing The Month of Spooks 2018!!!

What is up, ladies and gentlemen? It is once again time that time of year when I get to announce one of my favorite things to do within the blogosphere. I am super excited to announce that for the fourth year in a row, I am hosting what I refer to as The Month of Spooks! For those who are relatively new to my blog, every year since 2015 I spend the month of October reviewing a ton of horror things, usually with some people tagging along on their own blogs. Like I said, it’s been a yearly tradition for me to do this, and I do not intend on skipping out on it this year. So what’s gonna happen exactly?

Well to be honest, I have no fucking clue. I have some general ideas of horror-related things I might wanna review, but nothing is set in stone right now. But I know we’ll find some cool stuff to cover. And I will hopefully get some badass bloggers with me this year as well.

The Month of Spooks 2018, are you guys excited? Because I sure as hell am!
Have a good one.

“Devil May Cry 5” E3 Trailer

Hello there, ladies and gentlemen. Once again it is that time of year, the Electronic Entertainment Expo, more commonly known as E3, is in full force and trailers are coming out left and right. I know that there are those of you out there who aren’t into video games, but that won’t stop me from writing about them. I love video games, and E3 gives me plenty of trailers to talk about. So let’s get into it.

First trailer we’ll be talking about is for a franchise that I almost thought was dead. But after months of rumors and speculation, we finally have a trailer for “Devil May Cry 5”. The latest part in the Japanese hack n slash action series follows Nero (Johnny Yong Bosch), the protagonist from “Devil May Cry 4”, as he goes on a journey to kick some demon ass. We get CGI cutscenes and even small increments of actual gameplay. And it looks like it will be the fun, fast-paced, over-the-top style of the previous games with the same crunchy combat that fans love. And as a fan of “Devil May Cry”, I am excited for this new game. I love the world, I love the insanity of it all, and this just looks like it will be a lot of fun. “Devil May Cry 5” is set to be released in spring of 2019.

What are your thoughts (if you have any)? Are you excited for “Devil May Cry 5”? And do you like the other games in the series? Leave any and all thoughts in the comments.
Have a good one and enjoy the trailer!

My Most Anticipated Movies 2018

Hello there, my friends! It is that time of the year again where I talk about my most anticipated movies of 2018. And I am aware that we’re already a week into 2018, but the movie year hasn’t really begun for me. So I am still safe in making this list. So here we go.

Just a couple of rules first.

Rule #1: My list. These are my most anticipated movies of the year. If you’re not excited for any of these or I didn’t include any that you’re excited about, then make your own list. These are MY most anticipated movies of the year. Not necessarily the ones I think will be the best, just the ones I am interested in seeing. In no particular order.

Rule #2: I will not include any late releases here. You know, those that have a limited release in like December and then come to other countries in the first quarter of the next year. So stuff like “Wind River”, “Three Billboards”, and “Shape of Water” are not included on this list (though I am excited for those too).

That’s it for rules this time. Here are my most anticipated movies of 2018.

Number 1: The Commuter.

First up we have “The Commuter”, the latest collaboration between Liam Neeson and director Jaume Collet-Serra. I’ve enjoyed all of their previous collaboration, I find them to be enjoyable little thrillers. None of them are genuinely great movies, but I find them to be entertaining, good ways to kill two hours. And this looks to be another entertaining one form the duo. And with people like Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson in the cast it’s sure to get some great acting in it.

Number 2: Deadpool 2.

I love “Deadpool”. It’s one of those movies that I was worried about, since FOX haven’t always been the kindest to the X-Movies. But I saw it and I had a blast. And “Deadpool 2” seems to be continuing what the first movie started. It looks like it will be as (if not more) insane as the first movie, while also introducing classic Deadpool allies Cable (Josh Brolin) and Domino (Zazie Beetz). But yeah, I’m excited.

Number 3: Black Panther.

After his awesome debut in “Captain America: Civil War”, I was excited to see Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) getting his own solo movie. Then the trailer came out, and I got even more excited because it looked badass. and with it coming out now in February, the hype is growing more and more. And even if it doesn’t turn out to be some fantastic movie, I am more than certain that it will be another cool and fun entry in the Marvel Cinematic universe.

Number 4: Avengers: Infinity War.

Yeah, I decided to go straight for the throat on this entry. The culmination of the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe. The big war featuring most if not all the heroes against the mighty Thanos (Josh Brolin). This looks like it will be a big and awesome action movie, but I also feel like there will be some great character moments in it, based on what came before and what this is. The hype is real.

Number 5: Ready Player One.

Here we have an interesting entry. Based on a book by Ernest Cline, “Ready Player One” tells the story of Wade (Tye Sheridan), a young man using a virtual reality world to try to win a competition that would grant him a lot of money. I love the book, and was scared when I heard that they were adapting it. But Spielberg has proven himself before, so I will try to be optimistic. It looks interesting, and features tons of fun easter eggs in it. So yeah, player one is ready.

Number 6: Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

While “Jurassic World” wasn’t anywhere near as great as “Jurassic Park” (contrary to what my original review more or less said), it was still a fun action-adventure featuring dinosaurs. “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” looks to be that, but bigger, more explosive, and not as good. Not saying it will be bad (it’s on this list for a reason), but it has revealed a lot in the trailer… and a lot of it looks just… fine. Will I go see it opening week? You bet your ass, I am. But I will go in with restrained expectations.

Number 7: The Incredibles 2.

“The Incredibles” is a great movie, one of my favorites from Pixar. And Brad Bird is a good director. So I have a lot of faith that this will be good. By the way, why in the flying fuck did we get TWO “Cars” sequels before we even got ONE “Incredibles” sequel? Makes no god damn sense. But yeah, “Incredibles” is one I’m quite excited for.

Number 8: Annihilation.

Alex Garland has written some great movies. He also wrote and directed the excellent “Ex Machina”. And now we’re getting another movie that was written and directed by him. It stars Natalie Portman and is about some scientists going into some strange zone. And it looks good. I like me a solid sci-fi-thriller, and this looks like it could be such a thing.

Number 8: Pacific Rim: Uprising.

I really like “Pacific Rim”. I wouldn’t exactly call it Guillermo Del Toro’s greatest movie, but it has some interesting concepts and some damn entertaining action scenes. And while this doesn’t look like it will be as good as the first, it still looks like it could be a dumb and fun popcorn movie. And instead of Charlie Hunnam and Rinko Kikuchi we seem to get John Boyega (Woo!) and Scott Eastwood (okay?). *gulp*. Please be good.

Number 9: X-Men: Dark Phoenix.

No trailer. Unproven director. Sequel to generally disliked movie. So how could I be excited for this? Honestly, I love “X-Men”. I love this franchise and I’m always excited to see new movies for this series. The X-Movies have given me hours upon hours of entertainment and I am always happy to get more.

Number 10: The New Mutants.

A horror movie set in the “X-Men” universe? Sure, why the fuck not. Could be fun. Looks like fun. Has a good cast. Yeah, I’m on board. Still confused about why horror with these mutants, and why there’s Pink Floyd in the trailer. Oh well, I’m intrigued.

Number 11: Soldado.

“Sicario” is one of my favorite movies of the last few years, so when they announced a sequel I got worried. Would they butcher it? How could they continue such a tight story? Sure, Brolin and Benicio are back, and so is the original writer… but Denis Villeneuve and Roger Deakins aren’t, so that had me worried. Then the trailer came out and I thought it looked okay. After some thinking, I am now even more excited about it. Do I think it’ll be better than the first? Hell no. But I think it could be a good movie.

Number 12: The Predator.

A sequel to “Predator”, written and directed by Shane Black? Hell yeah. Not only is Shane Black a damn fine writer/director, but his involvement with the original movie (he played the character Hawkins) gives him a bit more insight into this shit. And I’m just excited to see a new movie from Shane Black. He’s great.

Number 13: Ant-Man and The Wasp.

I like “Ant-Man”, it’s a really fun movie. I’m excited for the sequel. Has a good director, great cast, it’s part of the MCU… yeah, I’m excited. Moving on.

Number 14: Aquaman.

The DCEU has been… problematic to say the least. But “Wonder Woman” has proven that there can be good movies in it. And with an awesome cast and a solid director I am pretty excited for this movie. I feel like it could be fun. Did I say fun? Oh no, the DC fanboys will come after me now.

Number 15: Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

Sony. Sony, Sony, Sony, you unreliable idiots. Needing help from Marvel to make a good “Spider-Man” movies. What’s this? An animated “Spider-Verse” movie? Okay, I’m intrigued. It has a cool style to it (though body/facial animation looks a bit jittery). I am intrigued to see them make this. I love me a bit of superhero animation.

And that’s it for my list. There will be interesting movies that I will find out about later this year, but these are some of the ones I’m a bit more interested in right now… a lot of superhero and sci-fi stuff. I am one predictable person. But I want to hear from you, what are some of your most anticipated titles this year? Leave any and all thoughts in the comments.
Have a good one.

“Peaky Blinders” season 4 trailer!

Helllo there, ladies and gents. Time for another trailer talk. So let’s just jump into it.

So we finally have a trailer for the fourth season of “Peaky Blinders”, BBC’s depression era gangster-drama. And let’s just make it clear, I fucking love this show, it is one of my favorites. I’ve reviewed season 1 – 3 on this blog before, so go check those out if you want more in-depth thoughts on each season. But yeah, I love the show. Anyhow, here’s the trailer for season 4. So what the fuck is going on? Well, shit’s getting real as Tommy (Cillian Murphy) and his family have to deal with some new individuals causing them trouble, which seems to include Adrien Brody. And it looks like shit will get real. So do I think this looks good? Yes, god yes, it looks fantastic. “Peaky Blinders” has had three great seasons so far, and I have high hopes for season 4. It looks like it will be tense and dramatic and awesome. I am hyped. While there’s no specific date for season 4, it will probably air at some point later this year.

What are your thoughts? Are you excited for “Peaky Blinders” season 4? And what’s your favorite gangster-drama? Leave any and all thoughts in the comments.
Have a good one and enjoy the trailer!

“Wheelman” teaser trailer!

Hello there, my friends! Time for some trailer talk! So here we go!

We have now gotten our first look at Netflix original movie “Wheelman”. So what’s this all about then? Well, Frank Grillo stars as a badass getaway driver who gets pulled into a really bad situation. And that’s really all we know, and that’s all we need. Getaway driver, bad situation, action, Frank Grillo. Now, I’ve actually had this movie in my sights for a while mainly due to a couple of things. For one, it stars the aforementioned Frank Grillo, one of the most badass actors working today. And it was produced by both Grillo and Joe Carnahan, the man who made the excellent “The Grey” and the really fun “Stretch” (which I recently reviewed *Nudge nudge wink wink*). So since I follow their social media feeds I’ve known about this project for a while, and now we finally have our first look at it. And while there isn’t a lot of footage to go on, I would still say that I’m excited. I’m always up for a good action movie, and a bit of Frank Grillo. Sure, the director, Jeremy Rush, hasn’t directed a movie prior to this, but I am still quite interested in this. “Wheelman” is set to be released on October 20th, only on Netflix.

What are your thoughts on this? Are you excited for “Wheelman”? And what’s your favorite movie about/heavily featuring a getaway driver? Leave any and all thoughts in the comments.
Have a good one and enjoy the teaser!

“The Evil Within 2” Announcement Trailer!

Hello guys, hope you’re having a good day. Well, it’s that time of year again. The Electronic Entertainment Expo (more commonly known as E3) is currently going on and we’ve gotten some interesting trailers/reveals from it. So I’m gonna talk about them for the next couple of posts. So here we go.

The first trailer we’re talking about today is the announcement/reveal trailer for “The Evil Within 2”, the sequel to the 2014 horror game from game director Shinji Mikami. So what’s going on here? Well, first the story for the first game to give a little bit of context. Sebastian Castellanos (Anson Mount) is a police detective that gets sent with his colleagues Julie (Jennifer Carpenter) and Joseph (Yuri Lowenthal) to investigate a horrible massacre at an asylum. And when they get there they get dragged into a mindbending and quite fucked up adventure trying to stop an evil madman named Ruvik (Jackie Earle Haley). Now, onto the sequel. Sebastian (voice actor not confirmed) seems to get a report from Kidman (voice actor not confirmed) that Seb’s daughter (who we found out died), might actually be alive. So now he has to go on anotehr fucked up mission through the horrors of the mind. But the trailer not only reveals the existence of the game and reveals a little bit of plot, but there’s also a little bit of gameplay towards the end… and it looks like more of the first, which I’m okay with, because I really enjoyed the first game. And wait a minute, did they tease the return of the spider-lady from the first game? Oh shit. Now, will this game be able to scare me as much as the ninth chapter of the first game? Who the fuck knows. All I know is that this looks kind of creepy and mindbendy and yeah, I’m excited. “The Evil Within 2” is set to be released on Friday the 13th of October 2017… wait that’s this year, right in time for the “Month of Spooks”!

What are your thoughts? Are you excited for “The Evil Within 2”? And what did you think of the first game (if you played it)? Leave any and all thoughts in the comments.
Have a good one and enjoy the madness, I mean trailer!

So we finally have a teaser trailer for the second season of “Preacher”, the AMC series based on the comics by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon (R.I.P). So there will be some minor spoilers for season 1 in this post, so if you haven’t seen it but want to go in blind, maybe leave this post now. Alright? Sounds good? I’m not gonna stall for too long. 3. 2. 1.
So after the explosive ending of season, we find Jesse (Dominic Cooper), Tulip (Ruth Negga), and Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) going on a road trip to literally find god. And then it seems like crazy shit will happen. So what do I think? Well, it looks like it will be as weird as season 1 and god damn, I am so fucking excited! I loved the first season of “Preacher”, so I was already excited for season 2. And now that we’ve gotten an official look at it I am even more excited! “Preacher” season 2 is set to premiere June 25th of this year on AMC.

What are your thoughts? Are you excited for “Preacher” season 2? And what did you think of season 1? Leave any and all thoughts in the comments!

“The Last of Us Part 2” has officially been announced!

the-last-of-us-part-ii

Holy. Fucking. Shit. That came out of nowhere… sort of. Hello there, guys. I wasn’t really planning on┬ámaking this post, because I didn’t know that this would even be announced. But here it is… so let’s talk about it!

So at PSX (A convention for Playstation) they officially announced “The Last of Us Part II”. For those who don’t know, this is a sequel (duh) to the very popular “The Last of Us”, an action-horror-drama video game from 2013. The game was about Joel (Troy Baker) transporting a young girl named Ellie (Ashley Johnson) across post-apocalyptic America because she’s special for a reason that I will not get into. I honestly didn’t play the game until earlier this year and I have to say that it is one of the best games I’ve ever experienced, with it’s incredible story/characters, terrific voice acting, great music, and absolutely astonishing graphics (especially the PS4 remaster). If you haven’t ever played “The Last of Us”, I suggest you pick it up because it is amazing. So I of course got excited when this announcement came about an hour(ish) ago. Sure, I have some slight reservations because of story and if they can make something that doesn’t disappoint since the first one is so incredible. But I digress. I guess this trailer gives you slight spoilers in the sense that it kind of reveals the fate of our heroes. So… go play the game, damn you. Anyone else that is still here, let’s talk about it.
So we open on a beautiful forest, then cut around a bit to some post-apocalyptic shit, and then to a shaky hand that starts playing a guitar. The hand of course belongs to Ellie who seems to be a bit older this time around. Elie plays a haunting tune that perfectly fits with this universe, then a man holding a revolver comes in and it turns out to be Joel! He asks what Ellie is doing (What are you doing, kiddo?). Then we get very brief dialog between them and it seems like there’s some revenge plot going on. And I’m motherfucking excited! We haven’t gotten an official release date yet, but it says that it’s in development (duh), so my guess is that we’ll see the game at some point in 2018.

So what are your thoughts? Are you excited for “The Last of Us Part II”? And are you a fan of the first game? Leave any and all thoughts in the comments.
Have a good one and enjoy the trailer!

We now have a trailer for “Logan”!

Holy. Fucking. Shit. You guys.

That’s right, ladies and gentlemen! We now (finally) have a trailer for “Logan”, AKA “Wolverine 3” for those who maybe didn’t know. And I got a few things to say here. So without further ado, let’s talk about it.

So this is basically the “Old Man Logan” story, only with way less Marvel characters because rights and shit. But it of course follows Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) as he is broken, beat, and scarred (thank you, Metallica). Thi is a story set further into the future and it follows Logan as he goes through one last “adventure” with a broken Professor X (Patrick Stewart) and a little girl (Sienna Novikov). I of course put quotation marks around the word adventure because this shit is serious. From the tone conveyed through the directing and the acting, to the song used being “Hurt” by Johnny Cash. Seriously, this is some heavy stuff that of course will have some badass action in it. So what do I like about it? Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart, always reliable for good performances, and this trailer shows it. I also like what I see in terms of the action we get in this trailer. I am also glad that they got James Mangold to direct this one, because he i a fantastic director. From the really good “Walk the Line”, to the fantastic “3:10 to Yuma”, to “The Wolverine” in 2013. I am also interested to see what they’ll do with this since it’s confirmed to be Rated R. Wolverine is a violent character, so an R-rating for a gritty “Old Man Logan” type story makes a lot of sense actually. I also think it’s a bit funny how the trailer song is Johnny Cash’s version of “Hurt”, since James Mangold directed “Walk the Line” which is a movie about Johnny Cash. Besides that, I am excited! This movie looks great, and I am definitely going to go see this when it comes out. “Logan” is set to come out in early March of 2017.

So what are your thoughts? Are you guys looking forward to “Logan”? And what’s your favorite James Mangold movie? Leave any and all answers in the comments!

“Mass Effect: Andromeda” E3 Trailer

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening and good night to all of you out there. As I had lightly touched on here on my blog and outright promised on twitter, I would be writing a bit about interesting stuff that came out of E3 this year. And by interesting I of course mean interesting to me, and then you jsut read about it. So let’s do this!

The first thing I wanted to cover was something that is close to my heart. We have now gotten a new look at “Mass Effect: Andromeda” which teases a bit of the story and the worlds you’ll be exploring. I am a big “Mass Effect” fan, hence why this is such an important thing for me. I have played through the series several times and it is always interesting to no end. So after they wrapped up the story of Commander Shepard in “Mass Effect 3”, I wondered where they could possibly go next. And now we almost know! While there haven’t been any confirmation on who/what the main protagonist will be, we still have gotten a small look into the new game. In this game we will explore the Andromeda system, a very real galaxy which we know barely anythign about. And that’s about it. What can be seen though is that there will be returns from familiar species from the previous games, such as the Asari and the Krogan. We will also get new species to shoot at and stuff. We also get a new and improved Mako and I am getting carried away and Jebuz Crust, I am a fucking nerd… What I’m trying to say is that I am incredibly excited about this game. 2017 can’t come soon enough.

Are you a fan of the previous games in the series and are you excited for “Andromeda”? Leave any and all answers in the comments.
Have a good one and enjoy the trailer!
